MG ZT 385 DTM: for sale on eBay now!

Clive Goldthorp

Cutting a dash in Essex, and it could soon be yours...

Ben Flatman, the current, Essex-based, owner of the only known road-registered MG ZT 385 DTM has decided to offer the car for sale on eBay because he fancies “getting an older car that would be a bit more practical to use.”

The car was originally built and registered by MG Sport and Racing Limited and has been owned by Ben for just over two years. The ZT 385 DTM’s 4.6-litre V8 Ford Mustang engine has a permanently engaged Roush supercharger while the car also features AP Racing 355mm front disc brakes and calipers, Bilstein three-way adjustable dampers, a six-point bolted roll cage, Recaro race seats in black leather with five-point race harnesses, an MG fire extinguisher, sealed rear doors and Compomotive race wheels.

However, as the car stated life on the production line at Longbridge, equipment also includes the original MG ZT dashboard complete with television, premium hi-fi and trip computer in addition to electric windows, electric door mirrors and remote central locking with an alarm.

Ben Flatman, who adds that the car has only done around 1500 miles and been kept dry in a heated garage, also says: “This one-off car should really be in a museum!” However, AROnline reckons that NAC MG should seriously consider making a realistic bid – the car would surely, even now, generate plenty of showroom traffic both here and, more importantly, in China while such an acquisition would also underline SAIC Motor/NAC’s commitment to preserving the heritage of the MG marque.

The auction closes at 14:55:02 BST on the 3rd July, 2008 so any AROnline readers wishing to make a bid need to visit the auction page pretty quickly.

Incidentally, if one of you does succeed in buying the car, then please contact us at AROnline – we'd love to do the First Drive article!
