John Windwood's collection encompasses a renowned classic ...and an MGB.
MGB GT
The Quintessential Englishman's sports car - the MGB: revered by many, jeered by those that don't understand it. John's example is a credit to the breed, especially with the tasty Minilites. "The MGB was my Mums-restored in the 80s and then given to my Wife as a present. An excellent car, we have added the Minilites and leather trim."
Austin JU 250 ambulance
The 250 JU Ambulance is an ongoing project. Probably unique, it has a hightop and a hydraulic wheelchair lift in the back. It needed some welding, attention to suspension and brakes... John added, "The JU Ambulance is now fully roadworthy. I have replaced kingpins, the
whole braking system and all the shock absorbers. The original 1622cc engine
gave up shortly after I got it, so it now has a fully rebuilt unleaded spec
1800 engine from an MGB-MUCH better! This is coupled to a stainless exhaust
system. It is fitted with Sherpa wheels and tyres, so now uses radials
instead of the original crossplies, and I have made a start on refurbishing
the interior. The big job will be the corroding and dented outer bodywork. I
am patching it at the moment, awaiting the manufacture of new outer sills."
