Connections

Over the years, numerous connections have arisen between the various BMC>Rover companies and other British car manufacturers.

These connections range from the incidental crossing of paths to some far more substantial alliances. Sometimes they will relate to key personnel who have worked for both concerns, while in other cases the connection will lie in the companies' products. Either way, it goes to show just what a small world the British motor industry really can be.

Carbodies

Best known for their involvement with the bespoke London taxi, the Midlands coachbuilding firm (now known as LTI) built a strong association with Austin both during and following the second world war, and later won significant contracts with Standard-Triumph. Other familiar names, such as Jaguar, Daimler and Land Rover, also play a part in the story.

Jensen

Jensen supplemented their core business of building specialist sports cars by taking on body-building contracts for other manufacturers, notably Austin.

Reliant

Reliant's connections with the BMC>Rover started early on, when they adopted the engine of the pre-war Austin Seven and began to develop it for their three-wheelers. In later years, the Triumph brand would become a recurring theme in a series of events pertaining to the company.
